Five spring cleaning tips to reinvigorate your home
Spring Cleaning is an ideal way to spruce up your living space by de-cluttering and reorganising your home environment in a few small steps. A few hours of rearranging, scrubbing and polishing can make you feel like you’re living in an entirely new home. The best part? You don’t even have to wait for Spring!
When done correctly, spring cleaning can totally transform your personal environment. Not only will it improve your household structure, but your mindset is sure to reap the benefits, too. If you are stressed, angry or simply lead a busy life, it’s easy to neglect your household sometimes. A peaceful home environment can make a world of difference to both you and your family.
The idea of spring cleaning can certainly seem like a daunting task to most, though with a plan, your home is sure to be back to (almost!) new in no time. Here are my five favourite tips to get you on track and start the process:
Make a list: The easiest way to get started is to identify your key areas for cleaning/reorganising and what needs to be done in each room. This will make the task seem more achievable, less daunting and we all know how satisfying it is to check items off your list when you’re done with them. Get as many people involved as you can to make the most of your time.
Treat yourself and update your cleaning equipment: Nothing will make the idea of cleaning seem less appealing than knowing your equipment is old, broken and unusable. Replacing your mop, rags and clothes is a good way to start. This will instantly make the idea of cleaning seem a lot more attractive.
Work in zones: It’s quite unrealistic to attempt to spring clean your entire household in one afternoon. I recommend separating your areas and sorting through them one at a time to avoid becoming stressed and overwhelmed. By breaking up your clean, you will experience a sense of achievement as you finish each room, motivating you to start on the next.
Listen to something stimulating: Play some music, turn on the TV or perhaps listen to a favourite podcast or an audiobook. Not only will these audio cues help you to pass the time, but they will also encourage you to maintain momentum and stay focused on the task at hand.
Add something special to each room: Think fresh flowers, a pot plant, a photo frame or a trinket. Adding new touches to an area can entirely lift the mood of the space. Flowers and greenery are perfect for simple areas such as bathrooms and study nooks, while more personalised items are fantastic to add into shared areas to evoke a sense of warmth and comfort.
Spring cleaning is a task designed to invigorate your home by cleaning out the old and prioritising the new. Your end result will not only be a clean, fresh living space, but you can also appreciate the hard work you have put in to maintain your home. Cutting the clutter and messy environment is a great way to improve productivity in the home. Now that you have a spot for everything and your items are organised, you will be able to find everything you need with ease. Your home will be more orderly, daily chores will be far more manageable and you will have much more time to relax and enjoy the things you love. Grab a mop, bucket and a helper, and thank yourself later.
